Are you jobless?  Perhaps suffering from discouragement?  Owed bills getting out of hand?  Can you twitter your job resume in 140 characters or less? You just may tweet yourself to a job or new career.  Here are four tips that may help you find work without having to go through the usual channel – a tedious process.

  1. Take time to regularly enlarge your network.  Patience is required to build online relationships and you should be able to build your reputation a few minutes a day.
  2. Reaching out to a hiring person requires transparency.  It is a give and take scenario.  You want them to give you a position but you will need to give advise or expertise in what interests them.  Don’t forget to let them know you are looking for work.
  3. Post updates regularly.  Acknowledge those helping you and update your job search, whether good or bad.  (We are living in a tough economy.)
  4. When it comes to your career objectives, be specific.  List your skills and your interests.  Job seekers who are successful have a way to share a quick picture of who they are, their expertise and how their talents will bring value to any employer of interest.

Employers do not have the time to read even a full page resume. Their position is very stressful, not knowing if they will have a job the next day. With 140 or less characters, use your words wisely – a foot in the door is all that is guaranteed.

Excellent, I’m reading this even though I can barely keep my eyes open. Superb….

  2. Actually, this seems a pretty decent blog, and since I’ve contemplated entering the 21st Century, you’re a good source of advice.
